This position serves as a Financial Management Specialist in the Department of Justice (DOJ), Justice Management Division (JMD), Finance Staff (FS), Travel Services Group (TSG) in Washington, D.C. The primary purpose of the position is to provide technical / functional help desk administration and support for the Departments web-based financial travel systems.

The duties and responsibilities for an Financial Management Specialist generally include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform analyses of travel data and ensure data processed through the travel system is integrated into the financial system ledger.
Provide technical advice to management officials through the analysis and interpretation of financial and travel data reflected in various system reports.
Resolve complex issues related to the financial aspects of the travel systems and products.
Provide program data to program managers that include an overall financial status of the travel program, including obligation and expenditure of funds processed through the travel system.
Provide travelers solutions for efficient and accurate processing of travel reimbursements.

You must be a United States Citizen or National.
You will be required to complete a pre-employment security investigation and background check which includes a drug screening.
You may be required to complete a one-year probationary or two-year trial period.
Selective Service registration is required for males born on, or after, December 31st 1959. Those not registered should have an approved exemption on file.

Qualifications
To qualify for the position of Financial Management Specialist at (GS-0501-13), you must meet the basic qualification requirements listed below AND possess the required specialized experience specific to this series and grade youre applying to.

If you are a current or former government employee on a permanent appointment in the competitive service, you will need to demonstrate 1-year (52-weeks) at the next lower grade level, to meet the time-in-grade requirements for this occupational series and grade. Additionally, please ensure to submit an applicable SF50 (please refer to the "required documents" section for additional information).

Specialized Experience: For the GS-13, you must have one year of specialized experience at the GS-12 grade level or equivalent pay band in the Federal Service. Specialized experience is defined as: Managing budgetary or financial operations pertaining to the travel program; Interpreting and applying appropriations law, federal travel regulations; and Recommending solutions relating to the integrated financial travel system.

You MUST meet all qualification requirements, including Time-in-Grade, by the closing date of this announcement, 04/29/2024.
