Posting Information Posting Number PG193728EP Internal Recruitment No Working Title HCM Business Analyst Anticipated Hiring Range $110,000 - $118,000 Work Schedule M-F 8-5, after hours and weekends as needed Job Location Raleigh, NC Department Enterprise Application Services About the Department Enterprise Application Services (EAS) is in the Office of Information Technology (OIT) division at North Carolina State University. EAS is responsible for the design, implementation, operation, enhancement & maintenance of the Universitys enterprise business applications. This includes: development, operation & maintenance of all enterprise administrative systems (Advancement, Financials, HR, Portal and Student Information Systems, REPORTER, etc.), configuration management, maintenance, enhancements, and application integration. Essential Job Duties The primary purpose of this position is to develop and maintain the HR system. This position focuses on the Position Management module. This person is responsible for working with the IT Managers, Project leads, Team members and Functional Offices in order to implement advanced, highly complex software solutions with minimal supervision. This Business Analyst position will support the Position Management module within Peoplesoft HCM. This includes:- Troubleshooting production issues quickly to identify the cause, then working with developers to determine a fix and creating and executing thorough test scripts for the solution;
- Working with customers to design and develop updates to functionality as well as minor or major enhancements to the system;
- Producing detailed functional documentation for customers as well as high-level technical specs for developers for all updates or enhancements to the functionality;
- Strong QA skills to test all aspects of system updates and enhancements as well as delivered patches from Oracle.
- Experience or familiarity with Profile Management functionality will also be needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Masters degree with 2-4 years of relevant experience OR
- Bachelors degree with 3-5 years of relevant experience OR
- An equivalent combination of education, training and relevant experience
- Strong system design skills, excellent technical documentation skills, and excellent testing skills are required. These should be documented through years of experience with ERP system projects.
- Enterprise System support experience for the following HR System modules: Workforce Administration and Position Management.
- Ability to interpret and write SQL statements.
- Ability to work with various levels within customer and IT organizations (including senior management) and to manage multiple concurrent projects.
- Ability to balance immediate and long-term priorities to meet critical objectives while considering the impact of those decisions and activities on the ability to achieve long-term goals.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both technical and non-technical subjects including the ability to communicate effectively at all levels of the organization.
- Strong project management, organizational and time management skills with the ability to manage project work and support tasks concurrently, to manage large and complex projects, to assist management with task assignments, and to take initiative in the development and completion of projects.
- Excellent problem-solving, analytical and evaluative skills with an ability to resolve complex, difficult issues at the macro level quickly and independently.
- Ability to persuade other decision-makers, make frequent presentations at customer meetings, and correspond in writing and verbally to people at staff and management levels of the university.
- General industry best practices for business analysis and business process improvement.
- Business Analyst experience with PeopleSoft Position Management is preferred but Position Management experience in other ERP systems will be considered.
- Proficient in navigating PeopleSoft Application Designer for research into pages, fields, tables, etc. Ability to read and understand PeopleCode, Application Engine, and SQR source code as needed.
- Working knowledge or familiarity of other PeopleSoft functionality such as Component Interface, Workflow (AWE), Activity Guides, and integration options such as Component Interface and Web Services.
- Experience with PeopleSoft HCM Profile Management functionality (9.2).
- Experience with Oracle RDBMS
- Knowledge of relevant technical standards such as OIT change management/source control, Section 508 (accessibility), NC Records Retention and Disposition Standards, NC IT audit standards and any applicable federal data protection standards (FERPA, HIPAA, ISO 27002, NIST 800-53, etc.)
