Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Serve as strategic leader for the Information Services department.
  • Provide or acquire the resources needed to identify, evaluate, and satisfy all new information needs of each respective business area and actively integrate them into the global technical and functional IT teams.
  • Plan for, implement and maintain the necessary infrastructure to support applications and other activities at headquarters, the branches, and remote personnel while working closely with the parent company.
  • Establish strategic and long-term goals, policies and procedures including disaster recovery related to IS/IT in collaboration with global group IT stakeholders.
  • Develop and maintain region-wide information computing applications and ensure the needs of the businesses are included to maximize the return on investment. Ensure any new systems are consistent with the strategic plan and maintain contact with the other regions to avoid developing redundant system. For global systems, provide the necessary change requests into the global demand management.
  • Develop a system architecture and infrastructure for local systems considering necessary touchpoints with the overall global IT eco system. Recommend hardware and software purchases consistent with STIHLs short- and long-term objectives and the defined system architectures.
  • Establish and manage regional IT budget in alignment with global strategy.
  • Oversee procurement of all IT equipment and company office equipment (copiers, FAX machines, etc.). Track and monitor all hardware and software expenditures.
  • Direct and monitor the business unit managers within the applicable Information Services departments/teams and provides guidance regarding overall company objectives. Manages all staff indirectly through subordinate managers.
  • Establish, maintain and monitor governance processes, methods, and tools for all relevant IT activities, especially project and portfolio management.
  • Provide systems related guidance to business executives, especially regarding strategic initiatives.
Specifications
  • 12+ years of progressively responsible experience, including 5+ in team/department management.
  • Bachelor’s degree in IT, Engineering or another related field.
  • Knowledge and experience with IS database programming tools and methodologies, business IT applications, client/server and electronic commerce application development, systems development, end-user computing tools, infrastructure support (PC, mainframe, LAN & WAN), and IT lifecycle management skills.
  • Seasoned leadership skills, having shown the ability to lead a team through transformation processes.
  • Travel Requirements: Up to 25%
