Position Title: Accounting Associate (Loan Accountant)
Salary Information: $45,000+

Position Summary
Colonial Farm Credit (www.colonialfarmcredit.com) is an agricultural credit cooperation and provides loans for:

• Farms and country homes
• Land purchase, home construction, or improvements
• Buildings, machinery, livestock or equipment
• Production capital for both full-time and part-time farmers
• Ag-related businesses

We have an excellent employment opportunity for an Accounting Associate (Loan Accountant) in our Finance Department/Administrative office located in Mechanicsville VA under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer.

Primary Functions

• Performs loan accounting activities of the Association, including processing post-closing loan modifications and general ledger transactions

– Loan Accounting – Processes post-closing loan maintenance

• Monitors various loan reports and coordinates correction and assessment of appropriate fees
• Verifies wires for loan disbursements to provide proper segregation of duties
• Inputs participation loan activity for loans purchased from institutions outside the AgFirst Farm Credit Bank district
• Posts general ledger transactions related to loan accounting

– General Accounting – Processes retirement of equities according to procedures

• Performing secondary verifications
• Serve as back up for other responsibilities

Education, Experience, and Requirements:

• Education or experience equivalent to as Associate’s degree in accounting or comparable f ield
• Intermediate skills in Microsoft Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Superior attention to detail
• Ability to effectively handle multiple tasks and work independently (general supervision)
• Strong communication, telephone, customer service, grammatical, and organizational skills
• Ability to work effectively with employees at all levels
• Acceptable background reports (credit, criminal, driving, and drug testing)
