Job Overview:

The Accounts Payable Specialist provides financial administrative and clerical services at the direction of the Accounting Generalist and the controller. In this role, the accounts payable specialist supports the company efforts in accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, worker’s compensation, compensation/benefits, compliance and other accounting practices. The accounts payable specialist coordinates with the staff to ensure the accounting functions are completed in a timely manner. This requires communication and teamwork. Although we endeavor to split the accounting accountabilities between team members, often, team members will support one another in their areas of focus. As such, a basic understanding of the core accountabilities and a willingness to provide such support, are essential. Success in the accounts payable specialist role depends on the individual’s ability to maintain strict confidentiality and to demonstrate consistency, accuracy and attention to detail.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensure the processing of vendor invoices and employee expense reimbursements adhere to corporate policy regarding approval, coding, timeliness
  • Process weekly check batch
  • Maintain company cellphone, credit card and utility accounts

  • Assist in the preparation of and distribute regularly scheduled reports
  • Assist with the implementation of new corporate procedures
  • Other duties as assigned

Qualifications include:

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • 1-3 years of accounts payable experience preferred
  • Data entry skills along with a knack for numbers
  • High degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of office equipment, such as printers and fax machines
  • Proficiency in MS Office (MS Excel and Outlook, in particular)
  • Excellent time management skills and ability to prioritize work
  • Attention to detail and problem-solving skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to multi-task
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Works well in a team atmosphere
  • Flexible in schedule- shifts, hours, and days of the week
