The School of Music is part of the College of the Arts, which was established in 2016 and also includes the Ernest G. In addition to offering some of the university’s most popular majors, the college connects faculty and students with Atlanta’s thriving arts scene and booming film and music industries. The Georgia State Bands program has been hailed as one of the finest in the Southeastern United States. Comprising three concert ensembles as well as a robust athletic band program, the Georgia State Bands program services more than 300 students in its various ensembles and provides dozens of performances each semester to the University community. The storied Symphonic Wind Ensemble has received invitations to perform at many prestigious events including the College Band Directors National Association Southern Division Conference, and the Georgia Music Educators Association In-Service. The Georgia State University Panther Marching Band has a brief but distinguished history. Founded in 2010 along with the University’s football team, the Panther Band has quickly made a name for itself performing for live, televised, and motion picture audiences. The most recent triumph being its first appearance in the 2022 Tournament of Roses Parade in Pasadena, California.

The School of Music is seeking to fill an Administrative Coordinator position in University Bands. This position is 0.75 FTE and is eligible for the full benefit package.

HERE IS WHAT YOU WILL DO

The Bands Administrative Coordinator is responsible to provide administrative and financial management support to the entire band program including the three concert bands and athletic bands. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Work in collaboration with the Band Area faculty and Director of Band Operations on various projects related to the area.
  • Maintain and coordinate inventory (e.g. office supplies, equipment, instruments, uniforms)
  • Make travel arrangements for performing ensembles
  • Assist with recruitment events
  • Process payment requisitions and purchase orders for various accounts
  • Manage social media presence, prepare content for online and print materials, and maintain web pages

Qualifications:

Bachelor’s degree and one year of administrative experience; or a combination of education and related experience.
