Provides engineering technical support for assigned, moderate to major-complexity program activities under general direction by performing these complex tasks and duties in support of LCA Programs by performing the following duties:

Major Position Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for analyzing and implementing existing and new ordnance designs for the U.S. Government and other commercial entities.
  • Identifies, recommends and incorporates a variety of moderately complex product improvement by maintaining or increasing production levels while improving products, production costs, yields, quality and safety within scheduled milestones and established budgets.
  • Troubleshoots process problems and identifies solutions which reduce issues while increasing efficiencies of production units and conserves maintenance costs.
  • Monitors processes to identify potential errors and develops solutions to eliminate the reoccurrence of those problems.
  • Participates in plant and supplier trials and visits to determine performance capabilities.
  • Participates in the development of process procedures to ensure that documentation is updated, accurate and understandable.
  • Determines moderately to majorly complex test methods, procedures, parts and equipment needed to implement engineering change proposals (ECP).
  • Serves as technical conduit for conveyance of ideas and products to both the customer, procurement, subcontractors or customers and technical authority activity and the endusers’ communities while facilitating the generation of requirements when needed., versees Engineering Support Labor spend plan for programs.
  • Prepares technical reports and engineering documentation (SOW, TDPL, BTR, QAP, PIP).
  • Conducts moderately complex engineering studies on design for products, associated and subsystems components and structures. Conducts moderately complex source inspection of components/assemblies (PCA, FAT, LAT).
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, process requirements and related technical data pertaining to design and to determine feasibility of product proposal.
  • Determines feasibility of designs considering costs, time limitations, planning and other technical and economic factors.
  • Sets up and conducts tests of complete units and components under operational conditions to investigate design proposals for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development, standardization and quality control.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for implementation.
  • Conducts moderately complex engineering experiments to test, prove or modify theoretical propositions on basis of research findings and experiences of others researching related technological areas.
  • Analyzes indicated and calculated test results in relation to design or rated specifications and test objectives and modifies or adjusts equipment or design to meet specifications.
  • Evaluates findings to develop new concepts, products, equipment, or processes or to develop applications of findings to new uses.
  • Reviews and evaluates complex designs for improving performance or other factors, or to obtain data for development. May also draft detail drawings or sketches for drafting design completion.
  • Prepares technical reports for use by engineering or management for long and short range planning, or for use by sales engineering personnel in sales or technical services activities.
  • Conducts process audits of subcontractors.
  • Analyzes engineering proposals, products or equipment specifications and performance requirements to determine designs that can be produced by existing manufacturing or processing facilities and methods.
  • Interfaces with all levels of management and employees to gather information and provide guidance for implementation and proposal preparation.
  • Functions as GDOTS technical representative in the areas specific functional areas within production or research and development.

Education /Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA/MS) Engineering from four-year college or university; 3-5 years related industry experience; PhD in Engineering with no industry experience; and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
