Job Description:

The Oregon Military Department is a state agency that supports the Oregon National Guard. You are
NOT required to be a member of the Oregon National Guard to apply for this position.

The Oregon Military Department is recruiting for an Office Specialist 2. This is a
Limited Duration full-time state position that may become permanent pending budget approval. This position is located at Kingsley Field in Klamath Falls, Oregon.

This position is represented by the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees’ (AFSCME) union.

What You Will be Doing
The primary purpose of this position is to assist and facilitate administrative support for the STARBASE Academy, including complex clerical work, coordination of in‐processing/out‐processing of employees, processing of travel documents, office management, classroom preparation and reception of visitors. This position helps the classroom instructor in preparing, organizing, and managing the classroom before and following daily lessons, and assists classroom instructors by helping to engage students using various strategies that build on students’ natural curiosity to explore, experiment, and discover to the varied needs and abilities of the learners.

Working Conditions
The general work environment is an office and classroom situation. During base tours and outside activities, there may be exposure to high noise, hot or cold weather and/or rain. Extended hours standing during classroom instruction is routine.

What You Need to Qualify
Two years of general clerical experience, one year of which included typing, word processing,
OR other experience generating documents.

An Associate’s degree

*** OR ***

Graduation from a private school of business with a certificate

-AND-

One year of general clerical experience.

Desired Skills/Special Qualifications
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint) and Outlook.
Strong organizational skills with a high level of tolerance for multi‐level processes.
Ability to work as a team member.
Ability to maintain confidentiality requirements.
Two years’ experience performing a combination of responsibilities related to child education.

Additional Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
