Hiring Department
The MU Counseling Center is part of the MU Student Health and Well-Being organization, which includes the Counseling Center, Student Health Center, and Wellness Resource Center. The Counseling Center provides mental health services for MU students as well as serves as a resource for faculty, staff, and other university stakeholders. The Counseling Center is administratively housed within the Division of Student Affairs.
Job Description
The Office Support Assistant works at the front desk of the Counseling Center, where general responsibilities include: Direct Customer Service, Managing Client Appointments, and Maintaining Electronic Client Records.
This position is one of three staff members at the front desk who are collectively responsible for routine daily tasks to provide seamless services to clients. Daily tasks include opening/closing of the Counseling Center, greeting incoming clients, scheduling appointments, directing phone calls, completing appointment reminder calls and emails, filing paperwork, uploading various forms, and processing incoming paperwork within an electronic records system. This role includes data entry within a specialized data system, use of MyZou, and adherence to confidentiality standards.
Job requires HIPAA and FERPA compliance and confidentiality.
Salary
Hiring Range: $12.36 – $17.00 per hour; paid on a bi-weekly basis.
Grade: GGS 5

Shift
M-F 8:00 am – 5:00 pm
This position may require evening and weekend hours supporting activities and programs within the department. Occasionally division and campus projects may require additional hours outside of your normal schedule.
Minimum Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent and at least 3 years of experience from which comparable knowledge and skills can be acquired is necessary.
Preferred Qualifications
Candidates ideally possess strong customer services skills, great organization skills, time management, ability to work independently as well as part of a team, and intermediate computer skills (data entry/management). HIPAA and mental health/medical setting experience is preferred.
