General Job Description/Team Overview:

The Senior Financial Accounting Analyst will be responsible for the accuracy of the financial accounting records of the Company as well as the preparation of regular monthly reporting. Responsibilities include balance sheet reconciliations, regular accruals, recurring journal entries and filings, departmental transaction analysis, and working closely with other members of the administrative department.

The ideal candidate for this position is a problem-solving, customer/service-focused, detail-oriented individual who is a team player and likes working with people. The ability to research complicated issues around coding and work easily with other departments to build knowledge and trust are essential. Flexibility, adaptability, and a desire to be challenged with new tasks will also be needed for this role.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent concentration. Certified Public Accounting License a plus.
  • 3-5 years of progressive accounting experience (experience at a high-growth technology/biotechnology company preferred, but not required).
  • Advanced knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for the entire Accounts Payable function, including but not limited to, processing vendor bills, expense reimbursement requests, obtaining and tracking proper approvals, resolving invoice or payment discrepancies, issuing on-time payments, and performing account reconciliations.
  • Meet Accounts Payable deadlines while ensuring that payables transactions are being coded accurately and processed efficiently.
  • Prepare and distribute Open Purchase Order Reports and Invoice Detail Reports for month-end accrual analysis.
  • Input, review, and audit of all credit card and clinical trial transactions, ensuring charges are valid and accurate.
  • Conduct monthly review of employee benefit invoicing to ensure the accuracy of premium payments, and work with the insurance company to make any necessary adjustments and or corrections as needed.
  • Ensure all supporting documents for purchase order packets are complete when submitting invoices for payment approval.
  • Organizing and maintaining vendor files.
  • Support annual external audits by preparing requested support and documentation.
  • Maintain vendor 1099 data and own the preparation of annual Forms 1099, as well as other compliance reporting requirements.
  • Responsible for monthly journal entries, and bank and other account reconciliations.
  • Communicate with external and internal auditors regarding financial reporting matters.
  • Generate key metric-driven analytical reports for the CFO and Management.
  • Assist in the development of forecasts, budgets, strategic plans, and other financial reporting requirements.
  • Make recommendations to management regarding cost savings or profit-generating opportunities.
  • Work collaboratively to improve automation of the A/P process to increase productivity and efficiency.
  • Maintain excellent working relationships with cross-functional teams and vendors by demonstrating a high degree of service orientation.
  • Assist the Admin/Finance team with other projects that support the company and its goals.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Prior A/P experience, performing with acute attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with all levels in the company and externally, combined with a customer-service attitude.
  • Strong computer skills including Microsoft Suite. Strong analytical and creative problem-solving skills, ability to link information together, and solution-oriented individual.
  • Self-motivated individual with demonstrated experience and continuous desire to improve and streamline processes.
  • Must be adaptable, agile, multi-task, and take on additional responsibilities as necessary.
  • Exhibit a sense of urgency to achieve department goals, resolve issues, and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to manage and prioritize various responsibilities with short deadlines.

Reports to: This position reports to the Chief Financial and Administrative Officer (CFO).

Compensation Range: $75,000-$110,000
