POSITION:

SUPERVISOR (Up to 1 Position)

Office of Safety and Youth Development/NYCDOE

Direct Supervisor: Gillian Smith, Executive Director

LOCATION:

In person at various NYCDOE locations and/or via MS TEAMS

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:

A valid New York State Certification as a School Administrator/Supervision (SAS), School District Administration (SDA) or School Building Leadership (SBL). Please note: We do not accept internship certificates.

A valid New York State License in Social Work

A permanent certificate as School Social Worker (NYS)

Three (3) years of experience as a School Social Worker, including at least one (1) year in an educational setting

SELECTION CRITERIA:

Knowledge of clinical, Social Emotional Learning, and school social work pedagogical best practices.

Ability to successfully work in collaboration with other pedagogical staff.

Prior training/professional development in social-emotional learning, trauma-informed care, and restorative practices.

Excellent organizational skills.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Fluency in Google Drive, TEAMS, Zoom, Excel.

DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

Plan and prepare multiple trauma informed workshops to school communities, inclusive of parents, guardians, family members to offer grief and trauma support trauma related to post pandemic recovery.

Facilitate workshops for parents, guardians, and family members of students.

Outreach to families to offer resources and information on how to identify and respond to trauma responses at home and in the school during this post pandemic recovery.

Collect data and create documents to reflect the impact of COVID 19 on students and families throughout all NYC boroughs.

Research latest trauma informed strategies and create a portfolio of worksheets.

WORK SCHEDULE:

September 2023 – Fall 2023 and beyond

Successful candidates will be required to work during the evenings, weekends as needed. (Maximum 100 hours.)

Hours up to, but not limited to, the approximate number of hours listed. Additional hours may be granted upon the approval of the hiring manager.

SALARY:

Per Session rates as per the relevant union/organization of the advertised title (Collective Bargaining Agreement). Contingent upon funding availability and programmatic approval.
