Kratos is looking for a System Design Engineer in support of a Department of Defense (DOD) customer. The DOD customer oversees innovative programs solving the nation’s toughest problems. This position requires an individual with extensive experience in technical programs and systems engineering used in developing ground and space systems. Specific experience in the development and operations of SATCOM systems ground segment development and operations is desired.
Job Duties
- Perform hardware/software requirements definition, decomposition, allocation, management, verification, and validation.
- System specification development, creation and enforcement of interface control documents, system risk management, and system configuration management.
- Responsibility for verifying all requirements are met using the approved verification method and documenting the verification results.
- Perform technical planning, system integration, verification and validation, evaluating alternatives including cost and risk.
- Contribute to the development of new concepts to enhance mission operations, improve system performance, and enhance mission capabilities.
- Generation and maintenance of DoD Architecture Framework Viewpoints and Models.
- Coordination with development, sustainment, and systems engineering leads as well as other technical staff.
- Interaction with customers and provide input to project managers on programmatic and technical deliverables.
- Perform technical support and risk assessment and evaluation of program management execution and technical review execution.
- Support and facilitate the development of CONOPs, TTPs and alternative courses of action.
- Provide technical and acquisition support to Government milestone reviews.
Experience and Skills:
- US Citizen
- Current Top-Secret clearance with SCI eligibility.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied sciences (Mathematics, Physics)
- Minimum 10 years of experience, with 5 years in space SATCOM and/or satellite ground systems
- Experience in decomposition of Govt requirements to a system, subsystem, and components
- Experience in the preparation of technical papers, trades, systems engineering process modification throughout all phases of the project development lifecycle
- Experience organizing external and internal project stakeholders towards achieving project goals and objectives
- Ability to brief, explain complex engineering concepts and designs to technical and non-technical personnel
- Experience working with diverse Engineering Staff with multiple areas of expertise
- Experience developing and managing Project Management products like Program Roadmaps, Integrated Master Schedules, Roles & Responsibilities Matrix, and Work Breakdown Structures
Desired Qualifications
- Advanced Degrees, MS/PhD, in engineering (EE, ME, AE, CS) or applied sciences (Mathematics, Physics)
- Familiarity with military space programs, and satellite constellations
- Familiarity with the latest commercial satellite constellations and commercial SATCOM
- Experience working on DoD and IC national security space programs
Competitive salary based on experience and education Salary Range: $135,000-$165,000 annually
