Position Summary
Governors State University (GSU) is seeking to hire a Test Center Coordinator to manage GSU Test Center. Job duties include leading professional testing for GSU and the community. The position reports to the Director of Academic Partnerships & Continuing Education, School of Extended Learning.
The Coordinator is essential to overseeing all operational standards, compliance, and staffing for the Testing Center. The Coordinator must be able to understand and conduct exam operations for all platforms and communicate with GSU personnel to successfully deliver all course exams and accommodations exams. They must oversee all day-to-day aspects of the administration of a range of standardized testing activities conducted in a centralized testing center, to include development and coordination of testing program policies and procedures, recruitment, training, and supervision of testing staff, and administration of testing carried out by proctors in accordance with established procedures. Manages the operation and maintenance of the center’s computer testing lab. A successful candidate is organized, structured, even-tempered, and is an excellent communicator.
ESSENTIAL
RESPONSIBLITIES
:
- Oversee all operational standards, compliance, and staffing for the Testing Center.
- Be knowledgeable about, and able to conduct, exam operations for all platforms.
- Coordinates testing services for accommodation needs including all physical, cognitive, and personal/social diversity accommodations of students that have exams in accordance with ASSD (Access Services for Students with Disabilities) Office guidance.
- Effectively communicate with faculty, staff, students, and community members the policies and rules of the Testing Center as well as operational questions and issues.
- Be on call/available for operational questions and issues during Testing Center hours of operation.
- Coordinates standardized group and/or individual test administration; administers and/or coordinates academic and non-academic professional testing.
- Administers the center’s computer testing lab, to include installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and enhancement of computer/network hardware, software, and peripheral.
- Plans, develops, and coordinates testing program policies, procedures, and schedules and ensures adequate staffing for the administration of examinations.
- Contacts testing companies and orders and maintains supplies of manual testing materials.
- Supervises and monitors administration of tests by proctors; ensures that test instructions are accurate and that appropriate testing environments are maintained.
- Ensures that test results are fairly and accurately scored utilizing automated or manual processes; configures and operates test scoring scanners and sets up and maintains computerized test score tracking systems and data bases.
- Provides routine direction, information, and advisement to students and prospective students regarding testing policies, procedures, and outcomes.
- Ensures that all test administration is carried out in compliance with relevant university and higher education policies, regulations, guidelines, and standards.
- Ensures confidentiality of test results and recommendations; maintains security of testing materials.
- Keeps informed of advancing technology in standardized test administration, computer based testing, machine scoring, and associated software.
- Maintain communication with platform IT support teams and GSU’s IT support staff to execute operations.
- Supervises personnel which typically includes recommendations for hiring, firing, performance evaluation, training, work allocation, and problem resolution.
- Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.
Starting Salary: $48,652.50.
(This is a non-unionized position. Salary starts at the base and is determined based on Education and Experience exceeding the minimum qualifications).

- Bachelor’s degree
- One (1) year of administrative/supervisory experience working with testing service platforms including Pearson Vue, PSI and/or Prometric.
- Working knowledge in Pearson Vue, PSI, Prometric and/or other testing platforms for academic or professional testing environments.
- Demonstrated experience in Microsoft programs.
Note:
Master’s degree in an area consistent with the duties of the position may be substituted for one (1) year of work experience.
