Position Summary & Responsibilities

Position Summary:

The position (K0246521)

The Kansas Department of Health and Environment has an Interoperability Onboarding Specialist opening. This position is with the Bureau of Disease Control and Prevention and will be fully remote. However, the incumbent in this role will be required to live in Kansas. This position will utilize KSWebIZ's data quality tools and reports, analyze data loads for proper HL7 message formatting, ensure data quality protocols are being followed, and monitor HL7 data exchange traffic to ensure continuous and timely data exchange.

Job Responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following:

Notify EHR vendors and/or providers if data quality standards are not being met, and work to correct any deficiencies before progressing to the next phase. Regularly communicate by both written and verbal communications with providers, vendors, and internal teams about data quality findings. Notify providers of any discrepancies or data quality issues and work collaboratively with them to resolve these issues. Ensure that they understand what changes are needed to meet data standards.

For assigned caseload, work with providers, EHR vendors, and internal team members to establish the necessary technical connections between the provider's system and KSWebIZ. Track progress and challenges, troubleshoot and resolve connectivity issues, ensuring that the provider can successfully send and receive data via HL7 interfaces. Provide regular updates to providers and internal teams regarding connection status. Respond promptly to inquiries, offer technical guidance, and address any challenges that arise during the connection process. Ensure that all parties are kept informed of progress and any roadblocks. Communicate progress, challenges, and resolutions to providers and internal stakeholders. Report any user support issues and concerns to supervisor promptly.

Qualifications

  • Education:
    • High School, GED
  • Licensing & Certification:
    • Valid Driver's License - Incumbent is required to have and maintain a valid driver's license when operating a state vehicle, a private vehicle, or a rental vehicle for the benefit of the State.
  • Minimum Qualifications:
    • One year of experience in data analysis and implementing modest procedures.
    • Proofreading, editing, attention to detail.
    • Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Ability to quickly learn processes and practices.
    • Experience with internet web browsers.
    • Ability to work independently with little or no supervision.
    • Ability to read and comprehend technical narrative material.
    • Ability to convey technical information to non-technical individuals.
    • Strong analytical skills.
    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
    • Excellent organizational skills.
