  • Securian Financial Groups internal position title is Product Analyst. This position is eligible to be filled at the Product Analyst, Product Sr. Analyst, or Product Consultant level depending on the qualifications and experience of the candidate.
Position Summary: Securian Financial is seeking an experienced business analyst to work in a collaborative environment focusing on our Life Electronic Order Entry platforms. We support Individual Solutions as well as Securian Business Services and are looking for someone who can help us achieve results while leading to improve efficiencies and processes. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
  • Collaborate with Product Owner and business partners to identify and elicit technology needs and work with the Securian and iPipeline teams on identifying solutions.
  • Help the Product Owner document the technology needs and business requirements.
  • Help Product Owner and team to plan work in upcoming releases, considering a variety of factors such as priority, effort/cost, complexity, dependencies, and business and system impacts.
  • Collaborate with Product Owner, internal and external teams, and business stakeholders to refine requirements and get them ready for development while also identifying dependencies, risks, and other concerns.
  • Provide assistance where needed throughout each release for the development team and quality engineers such as answering questions on requirements and providing input on testing strategy.
  • Develop and maintain technical documentation of system and business processes.
  • Grow and maintain knowledge of product, plans, business processes, and system applications.
  • Grow and maintain awareness of trends in the life business and technology space.
  • Build strong relationships with team members, business users, stakeholders, subject matter experts, vendors, to help navigate through problems, decisions, and related implications.
Qualifications:
  • Strategic thinker, analytical and results driven.
  • Leadership skills to guide a self-organizing team and be assertive with business priorities and opposing viewpoints while adhering to Agile concepts and principles.
  • Working knowledge of Agile practices. Understands the fundamentals of iterative development, incremental delivery, backlog management, burn down metrics, velocity and task definition.
  • Strong communication, facilitation and interpersonal skills to connect and engage team, facilitate discussion, advocate for team and negotiate with business/corporate areas, and resolve conflict.
  • Solid analytical skills, creative problem-solving skills, and high attention to detail.
  • Ability to work with minimal direction over time, flexibility to adapt to shifting priorities and schedules, handle multiple issues simultaneously, and to manage stressful situations.
  • Strong knowledge of technical concepts to drive scalable solutions.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Previous exposure or experience to life insurance or the life insurance industry.
