ABOUT THE ORLEANS PARISH DISTRICT ATTORNEY'S OFFICE (OPDA):
Jason Rogers Williams took office as the Orleans Parish District Attorney on January 11, 2021, and is building a 21st century prosecutors' office with a team of the best and brightest from around the country and a mission of being as smart on crime as the office has historically been tough on crime. New Orleans has led the world in convictions and incarceration for decades, without any corresponding decrease in crime. OPDA is simultaneously increasing safety and delivering justice with a laser focus on serious offenses and a belief that every New Orleanian deserves the presumption of innocence.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBLITIES:
- Catalogue, preserve, and inventory all OPDA closed records, including but not limited to closed felony and misdemeanor files, acceptances and refusals, diversion, 4th class, juvenile, closed file add-ons, and all other records designated as Public Records under La. R.S. 44:1 et seq.
- Properly box and inventory any and all records to be sent to offsite storage.
- Assist with any and all retrieval requests for closed files, scanned files, or off-site materials, including but not limited to ordering files, transporting files, and any necessary associated tasks.
- Facilitate and assist in ensuring timely, accurate, and complete compliance with Public Records Requests (PRRs), including but not limited to tracking deadlines for various PRRs, retrieving records from offsite storage, preparing documents for redaction, redacting responsive records as needed, and scanning and/or delivery to the requestor.
- Prepare and scan documents as part of daily File Room responsibilities.
- Assist PRO and RMO in maintaining working equipment, including but not limited to ensuring copier is filled at the beginning of each day.
- Assist ADAs and other personnel with any issues or matters related to the File Room copy machine or microfilm.
- Assist the PRO and RMO with any other File Room tasks or responsibilities as directed.
QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS:
- High school diploma, high school equivalent GED, or higher education.
- Knowledge and operation of computers and modern office equipment
- Highly organized, detail oriented, disciplined, and systematic
- Team player mentality that promotes group cohesiveness
REPORTS TO:
- Records Management Officer (RMO)
CLASSIFICATION:
Full-Time, Non-Exempt
SALARY
The salary for this position is $35,000/year.
