Job SummaryWe are seeking a dedicated and passionate Reading and Math Tutor to work with K-8 students from immigrant families in South Minneapolis. The tutor will assist students in developing essential reading and math skills, helping them gain confidence and improve their academic performance. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with diverse communities and is committed to educational equity.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one or small group tutoring in both reading and math for K-8 students. Also - will help with special projects and school work as needed.
• Develop individualized lesson plans tailored to each student's strengths and areas for improvement in reading and math.
• Create and implement personalized tutoring strategies to support student learning in reading comprehension and foundational math skills.
• Communicate regularly with students, parents, and staff to track progress and address challenges.
• Foster a positive, supportive, and inclusive learning environment.
• Attend occasional team meetings and provide feedback on program improvement.

Qualifications

• Strong proficiency in reading and math, with the ability to tutor K-8 students.
• Experience working with immigrant families or students from diverse backgrounds is preferred.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to develop and adapt teaching methods based on individual student needs.
• Patience, empathy, and a passion for helping students succeed.
• Flexibility in working with students with different learning styles.

Additional Information:

• Tutors must be available to work after-school hours from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM.
• Monday, Tuesday, Thursday 4:30-7:30pm. Friday and Saturday 3-6pm.
• A background check is required prior to employment.
