FAMILY MEDICINE (IN-FAMM-IUINA)
Department InformationFamily medicine is the medical specialty that provides continuing and comprehensive health care for individuals and families. This specialty integrates the biological, clinical, and behavioral sciences, and encompasses all ages and sexes, every organ system, and every disease entity. It is this combination that qualifies family medicine physicians to provide ongoing and comprehensive medical care, health maintenance, and preventive services to each member of a family, regardless of patient type or problem, whether biological, behavioral, or social.
Family medicine physicians, because of their background and interactions with families, are uniquely qualified to serve as a patient's advocate in all health-related matters, including the appropriate use of consultants, health services, and community resources.
Job Summary- Performs statistical analyses to answer questions posed by investigators and in support of study grants.
- Prepares data for analysis by selection of appropriate subjects and variables, merging data files, transformation of data, exclusion of outliers, etc.
- Prepares results for presentation in written or oral format.
- Collaborates with research investigators on research projects.
- Participates in manuscript writing.
- Reviews literature and attends educational programs/seminars to keep abreast of current statistical techniques.
- Participates in the development and preparation of grant applications.
- Mentors other biostatistician personnel by providing training and statistical guidance.
EDUCATION
Required
- Master's degree in statistics or biostatistics
Preferred
- Master's degree in epidemiology with a strong statistical background
WORK EXPERIENCE
Required
- 2 years of post-degree practical experience

The role regularly requires the ability to effectively communicate. The role frequently requires the ability to move about the work environment and to position oneself to operate laboratory equipment effectively. The role requires the ability to move objects weighing up to 25 pounds and will occasionally work near moving mechanical parts. The person in this role must be able to perform the essential functions with or without an accommodation.
Additional InformationThis position is grant funded with expected annual renewals. Renewals are contingent on the availability of grant funds.
