The Research Assistant will provide support and advance the research within Dr. Linda Franck's Patient and Family-Centered Care Research Center (PFCC-RC). The incumbent works collaboratively with research staff, faculty and learners. They will assist with survey preparation, data entry, coding, cleaning and processing of data across several projects and assist with preparation of research abstracts, posters and papers. As needed, they will help prepare, organize, and check reports. They may participate in gathering background information for manuscripts and providing edits and input to papers that result from the research. They will regularly meet with teammates, providing input, and identifying potential areas of engagement. They will show skills in self-starting and task organization. They will build in work quality checks with teammates and display attention to detail in both their own work and in checking the work of others.

The final salary and offer components are subject to additional approvals based on UC policy.

Your placement within the salary range is dependent on a number of factors including your work experience and internal equity within this position classification at UCSF. For positions that are represented by a labor union, placement within the salary range will be guided by the rules in the collective bargaining agreement.

The salary range for this position is $52,800 - $64,500 (Annual Rate).

Department Description

Dr. Linda Franck is affiliated with the Department of Family Health Care Nursing within the UCSF School of Nursing (FHCN). FHCN was established in 1974. The mission of FHCN is to optimize the health and well-being of children, women, and families in a changing multicultural society through nursing programs of teaching, research and practice, as well as through community service locally and globally. In 2022, Dr. Franck established the UCSF Patient and Family-Centered Care Research Center (PFCC-RC) with the aim of contributing new evidence and facilitating the implementation of patient- and family-centered care (FCC) and family-centered services in settings where patients receive health care around the world. Currently, the PFCC_RC has two major grant portfolios, one focused on family-centered care for hospitalized children, and the other focuses on reproductive healthcare evaluation and workforce development research. Both portfolios utilize community-partnered research methods and engage learners and multidisciplinary collaborators in advancing the science.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in related area and / or equivalent experience / training.
  • Skills to learn organization-specific and other computer application programs
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to communicate and collaborate effectively, both verbally and in writing
  • Ability to use discretion and maintain all confidentiality
  • Ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns
  • Demonstrates ability to review, process, and format data with strong attention to detail
  • Working knowledge of basic computer application programs (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Zoom)
  • Ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes
  • Ability to think creatively and independently on concepts requiring analytical skills.
  • Ability to juggle multiple tasks and collaborate with teammates to determine level of task importance within a dynamic work setting

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic data visualization skills: ability to grow skills and take complex data/findings and presenting it clearly (visually)
  • Written and verbal knowledge of a non-English language
  • Previous experience working in international research
  • Introductory knowledge of qualitative analysis (Dedoose)
