The Manager of Worship & Technology serves as the primary technical and production lead for The Well and other core spiritual life events within the Office of Spiritual Life. This role blends technical skill forming, creative production, student management, and A/V expertise and management, while requiring a posture of servant leadership, calm presence under pressure, and consistent follow-through in both planning and execution, especially upon request. This role directly supports the Worship and Ministry department's vision to form student leaders who live lives of purpose, service, and Christ-centered excellence.
Duties
- Production Management: Lead all aspects of weekly worship technical production including audio, livestream, visuals, lighting, and staging. Own pre-service run-throughs with tech team, service cueing, and the execution of a smooth worship experience via headset.
- Student Team Supervision: Oversee up to 6 student tech employees. Provide task clarity, role-specific mentoring, and conflict resolution. Foster ownership and accountability among upperclassmen student leads.
- AV Systems & Troubleshooting: Serve as primary A/V specialist for worship-related equipment across Hub spaces. Troubleshoot systems, coordinate upgrades, and maintain functionality for events large and small.
- Project Assistance & Tech Install Support: Act as an assistant project manager for department-wide initiatives, such as livestream system builds, lighting upgrades, or event tech overhauls. Responsible for documentation and milestone tracking.
- Collaborative Leadership Culture: Work shoulder-to-shoulder with Hub staff and ministry partners. Maintain a calm, non-anxious presence, especially under pressure. Speak with clarity and honesty while modeling humility and respect. Other duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications
Required
- At least 3 years of experience managing live event production or technical systems in a church, university, or ministry setting.
- Bachelor's degree in a related field (e.g., Audio Engineering, Worship Arts, Communication, Ministry, or Media Technology).
- Technical expertise in live sound, visual projection, live-streaming, and stage management.
- Familiarity with industry-standard tools and systems such as digital soundboards (e.g., Midas, Allen & Heath), ProPresenter, OBS/StreamDeck, Dante, and LED/video systems.
Preferred
- Five (5) years of experience managing live event production or technical systems in a church, university, or ministry setting. Experience managing and troubleshooting tech systems across multiple venues (auditoriums, chapels, outdoor spaces).
- Excellent communication, task tracking, and collaboration habits using tools like Google Suite and Asana.
- Experience of handling loading and unloading of tour-ready equipment using road-cases and carts, with the oversight of all gear functionality, safety, and security.
- Strong mentorship and team leadership skills, especially with college students in a ministry context.

This is a Regular, Nonexempt, 40 hour per week position.
Expected Pay Range: $29.80 - $31.73 per hour
The above pay range reflects what Pepperdine University reasonably expects to pay for this position at time of posting. Actual compensation may vary based on relevant factors such as work experience, market conditions, education/training, and skill level. In addition to base pay, Pepperdine offers a robust and highly competitive benefits package.
