Are you ready to enhance network systems and lead the development and certification of DOCSIS customer premise equipment? The Network Engineer III role at Spectrum may be just for you. You will assist in the planning, forecasting, implementation, and identification of resource requirements for network systems of varying complexity; as well as train/mentor emergent engineers. As a member of the team, you will develop and implement a deeper knowledge of DOCSIS and other technologies,  while following corporate standards. You will be sought after for recommendations for improvement and assists in staff development efforts.

WHAT OUR PRINCIPAL DEVELOPERS ENJOY MOST

• Actively and consistently support all efforts to simplify and enhance the customer experience.
• Participates in network planning, network architecture design and engineering. Integrates and schematically depicts communication architectures, topologies, hardware, software, transmission and signaling links and protocols into complete network configurations.
• Evaluates new products, performs network problem resolution. Assists in the development and documentation of technical standards.
• Develops and implements approved methods of procedure.
• Designs and establishes protocol compatibility standards, develops, and implements network enhancements and makes recommendations for improvement.
• Works on projects/ systems/issues of medium to high complexity surrounding network planning, configuration, and optimization.
• Provides escalated tier support across organizations and to third party vendors.
• Works on one or more projects as a project team member, occasionally as a project team lead.
• Coaches less experienced staff.
• Adhere to industry specific local, state, and federal regulations, as applicable.
• Knows, understands, and follows company policy.
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor.

WHAT YOU'LL BRING TO SPECTRUMRequired Qualifications

Experience:

• 5+ years data network experience
• 3+ years DOCSIS experience (Arris, Cisco, and/or Casa)
• 3+ years data/video network experience 3+ years (Cisco and/or Juniper)

Education: Bachelor's degree in computer science, Electrical Engineering, or related field or equivalent work experience

Technical skills:

• Intermediate knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI,
• Physical Media (Multimode/Singlemode Fiber, UTP, etc.), bridging, switching, routing,
• Ethernet and transport technologies and protocols
• Intermediate knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology.
• Intermediate knowledge in DOCSIS technologies and CMTS routers.
• Intermediate knowledge in TCP/IP and the OSI Model.
• Intermediate knowledge in Fiber technologies and OLT systems.
• Beginner to Intermediate knowledge of DAA R-PHY technologies.
• Intermediate knowledge in supporting remote sites and remote equipment.
• Intermediate knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
• Intermediate knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliances.
• Intermediate knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.

Skills:

• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of related industry specifications and standards IEEE, ANSI, Fiber (Multimode, Single mode, UTP, etc.), Bridging, Switching, Routing, Ethernet and Transport technologies and protocols.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in network design, network architecture, protocols, and network topology.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge in using ticketing and software tools to support the current operations.
• Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of basic network devices and basic network appliances Demonstrated in-depth knowledge of network designing software, such as Visio.
• Demonstrated in-depth data networking knowledge (OSI Model, TCP/IP, Optical Transport) Ability to work in a team environment.

Abilities:

• Full time
• This position is eligible for our Hybrid Work Policy. Eligible employees can work from home up to one day each week.

The base pay for this position generally is between $78,900.00 and $139,500.00. The actual compensation offered will carefully consider a wide range of factors, including your skills, qualifications, experience, and location. We comply with local wage minimums and also, certain positions are eligible for additional forms of other incentive-based compensation such as bonuses.
