This position is responsible for leading the ASM Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS) strategy and programs supporting global service and spares. As the Director of Global Service EHS, you will report to the VP of Sustainability & Global EHS and become part of an exceptional team of scientists, engineers, and many others working at the leading-edge of technology. You will join a global culture that is, at all levels and across all regions, deeply committed and continuously striving to lead our industry in all aspects of EHS, Product Safety, and Sustainability. You will be a part of a global Service Safety team driving and innovating best in class safety & health practices into our service organization and industry. You will partner with customers alike to help influence safety at all sites our service organization operates. Responsibilities include:
- Develop, maintain and manage ASM's EHS strategy to support the global Service and Spares organization
- Provide leadership in health & safety to a growing Service organization globally
- Define, develop, and align stakeholders to global policies and procedures as part of the global service safety team
- Lead a global team of regional service EHS managers
- Work across multiple cultures, regulatory frameworks, and stakeholder expectations and customer challenges
- Possess an ability to understand local/regional regulations
- Provide guidance and oversight to ensure compliance to all applicable ASM EHS and Sustainability policies to provide for a hazard-free workplace for ASM's employees. This includes the regional offices and workplaces at customer sites/locations.
- Build relationships with key customers (internal and external), fostering partnerships in driving ASM, customer, and industry safety performance across semiconductor fabs and foundries
- Proactive and comfortable in advising executive leadership on EHS matters, including to provide strategic and tactical insight to the Global EHS organization relative to changing regulations and standards
- Key member of the Global EHS Leadership team setting the global EHS strategy, direction, and priorities
- Lead a global service & spares safety councils
- Provide subject matter expertise support to regional management and the line organization for workplace health and safety issues/concerns
- Analyze EHS metrics leading to the discovery of trends and drive improvement plans to closure to minimize risk and improve performance
- Create and maintain practices, procedures, training and management controls to ensure work is planned and conducted in a safe manner in accordance with national and local regulatory requirements, Semiconductor Equipment Manufacturing Industry (SEMI) standards, ASM global EHS procedures, and customer requirements
- Drive requirements and work with regional management and EHS managers to maintain Emergency Response Plans
- Implement and contribute to the maintenance and continuous improvement of the global and regional safety training programs
- Implement and maintain safety incident and health case reporting in accordance with regulatory and company requirements
- Contribute to and, if necessary, lead safety incident investigations
- Direct interaction with customer representatives as required
- Participate in customer engagements including but not limited to strategic and executive reviews, proactive safety planning, safety escalations, site safety walks, process and procedure development and review, and chemical safety/health assessments
- Drive cultural safety maturity among the service teams through direct interaction with Service & Spares executive team and regional and site management teams
Minimum Qualifications:
- BS/MS in Health & Safety Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry or related degree
- 10+ years in Health & Safety within manufacturing and/or equipment servicing or design environment
- Certified Safety Professional (or comparable professional safety certification) preferred
- Occupational health and safety experience in semiconductor fabs or other high-tech areas
- Familiar with ISO 45001, safety regulations or standards for a capital equipment field service organization
- Knowledge in the semiconductor equipment industry, including wafer processing equipment, servicing equipment and ergonomics standard
- Experience with Industrial Hygiene methods and standards applicable to the semiconductor industry
- Experience in a fast paced, changing/growing organization, with the ability to adapt to changing circumstances, direction, and strategy
- Excellent English communication skills, both written and oral with customers and associates.
- Experience with, and ability to engage respectfully across global cultures and norms
- Strong analytical skills with demonstrated problem-solving ability
- Strong ability to influence without authority, and engage with a diverse range of employee and management levels within an organization
- Experience with chemicals and gases in a safety, health, or hygiene setting strongly preferred
- Willingness to continually learn and grow
- Ability to travel internationally and obtain visas to all customer countries, estimated travel <30%
- Ability to travel safely and work demanding and off-hours to accommodate global stakeholders
