Job Title:  Night Sorter Operator.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Safely operate console to control automated conveyor system that receives, sorts, distributes, and conveys packaged products from storage area to loading docks.
  • Become proficient with the software to manage the workforce efficiently. 
  • Observe materials or products moving on conveyors, and observe lights on control panel to monitor flow and operation of system.
  • Stop equipment clear jams, using hand tools.
  • Detect equipment malfunction and advise supervisor when malfunction occurs.
  • Handle and move objects - Use hands and arms to handle, install, position, and move materials, and manipulate objects.
  • Monitor processes, materials, and surroundings - Monitor and review information from materials, events, and the environment, to detect or assess problems.
  • Interact with SCM, ETP, and software vendors in the event that support is necessary.
  • Control machines and processes - Use either control mechanisms or direct physical activity to operate machines or processes.
  • Direct the movement of labor in production in conjunction with management 
  • Process information - Compile, categorize, calculate, tabulate, audit, and verify information or data.
  • Document and record information - Enter, transcribe, record, store, or maintain information in written or electronic form.
  • Trouble shoot, repair and maintain mechanical equipment - Service, repair, adjust, and test machines, devices, moving parts, and equipment.
  • Housekeeping/5S.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Additional Primary Responsibilities:

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years of experience in a fast paced, distribution environment with in-depth knowledge of conveyor systems.
  • Valid NY State Driver's License.
  • Ability to communicate with supervisors and peers - Providing information to supervisors, co-workers by telephone, in written form, e-mail, or in person.
  • Outstanding analytical skills to properly balance the extensive variety of SKUs ordered.
  • Ability to use computers and computer systems (including hardware and software) to enter data, process information, and initiate advanced database queries.
  • Perform general physical activities - Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials up to 50lbs.
  • Reliable and able to follow direction.

Physical Demands:

  • Physical demands include occasionally sitting and typing/keyboarding, using a computer (e.g., keyboard, mouse, and monitor), or adding a machine.
  • Must be able to regularly sit and operate machinery such as a forklift.
  • Physical demands with activity or condition may regularly include walking, bending, reaching, standing, squatting, and/or stooping.
  • Must be able to frequently lift/lower, push, carry, or pull 56 lbs.
