SUMMARY OF POSITION:

Responsible for day to day credentialing activities of the medical and allied health staff, and support the Manager, Medical Staff Services with all activities related to the appointment and reappointment processes as well as manage the day to day maintenance of credentialing records (electronic and paper).

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: The percentage of time spent performing essential functions is 85%. Qualified individuals must have the ability (with or without reasonable accommodation) to perform the following duties:

  • Receives, evaluates and processes initial and reappointment applications including performing all applicable credentialing and re-credentialing verification functions. 
  • Reviews the medical staff application for completeness and accuracy to initiate the verification process; verifies receipt of requested documentation to support the credentialing, provider enrollment and human resource processes and review; identifies adverse information, if applicable, analyzes licensure status and enters file into specialty database. 
  • Provides a summary of the file to the Manager, Medical Staff Services for final evaluation and approval of credentialing. 
  • Maintains accurate credentials for each provider (e.g. license status and expirations, board certifications, reappointments and malpractice coverage). 
  • Generates and analyzes reports from specialty database to monitor credentials of each provider. 
  • Communicates with providers and assigned departments to gather current credentials, as needed. 
  • Coordinates and monitors medical and allied health staff licensure applications/status changes. As it relates to allied health, changes in scope of practice or supervision require submission of licensing applications to State Board of Medicine, Nursing, etc. to keep licensure status current. 
  • Maintains credentialing database/Find A Physician, MSO website, reports, analysis of data. 
  • Communicates with internal and external colleagues and resources. 
  • Participates in scheduled audits by outside sources such as regulatory agencies or third party payors.  

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Associates Degree plus 1 year job related experience required OR 3 years job related experience required.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES:
  • Intermediate computer skills required (word processing, data management, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, email).
  • Oral and written communications skills required.
  • Organizational and project management skills required.
  • Ability to analyze data and resolve conflicts required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Excellent computer skills preferred (Word, Excel, Access, website management).
  • Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) and/or Certified Professional Medical Services Management (CPMSM) preferred.
  • Credentialing experience preferred.
