Responsibilities:
The person in this position will provide Systems Engineering, Requirements management, Verification, and Validation (RV&V) coordination, and element/system level integration support to the MSFC Systems Design and Verification Branch (EV72) for support to the Space Launch System (SLS) Exploration Upper Stage (EUS) Office element, to the Core Stage (CS) Office element, and to the MSFC Systems Engineering and Integration Division (EV70).
The successful candidate will coordinate and interface with multiple engineering disciplines, system elements, cross-program elements, and customers, as well as participate in reviews, meetings, working groups, task teams, and trade studies. The candidate will supply leadership and/or support for the development of key systems engineering products including requirements specifications, support program/project milestones and subsequent activities where these products are assessed and matured. The successful candidate will work with the EUS & CS element customers/partners from inception to deployment to ensure stakeholder needs are satisfied.
System engineering support to be provided by the candidate includes the following responsibilities:
- Support development of EUS & CS element requirements and verification products and ensure compliance with these requirements during development, testing and evaluation of EUS & CS sub-elements.
- Provide technical integration with other engineering disciplines, the EUS & CS Program element, and cross-program elements, including risk-based insight/oversight through assessment of requirements and verification activities.
- Support the EUS & CS Lead Systems Engineer (LSE) and Engineering Discipline Lead. Engineers (EDLEs) to evaluate prime contractor deliverables, including assessments of element
- Detailed Verification Objectives and verification of allocated end item specification requirements.
- Support for performing systems engineering tasks and assessments to support the SLS EUS & CS Program through reviews, meetings, working groups, trade studies and development of key systems engineering products to support program milestones.
- Support for developing integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage the work and identify risks and opportunities.
- Support for implementing Digital Engineering best practices, approaches, techniques, and tools.
- Support for requirement V&V including V&V planning, execution, coordination, and integration for system level requirements to assure design compliance.
- Communicate technical issues, risks, best practices and lessons-learned related to products, technical positions, requirement management, and V&V practices and develop integrated schedules and other tracking mechanisms to manage systems engineering tasks.
- Identify, describe, and communicate potential risks related to the products, processes and interactions in the systems engineering processes and document them in the NASA Risk Management System.
