Main purpose of job:
The British Consulate General (BCG) in Los Angeles has an exciting opportunity for a motivated, enthusiastic, proactive, and experienced individual to join the Corporate Services Team as our Corporate Services Manager (CSM). The job holder will lead an efficient, cost effective, and professional team, and will be responsible for a wide variety of administrative, procurement, finance, estates, and VIP visit activities. The CSM will ensure that the functioning and management of the Corporate Services team is robust and compliant in the areas of finance, HR, estates, security, IT and other associated administrative tasks. The position requires a practical, hands-on approach to ensure the functions and processes are efficient, smooth-running and represent good value for money. As the driving force for corporate delivery, the jobholder will support the senior leadership providing corporate, financial, and local insight to inform decision making. This is hugely varied role, and no two days will be the same. BCG LA has an extremely busy and ambitious and high-profile agenda as LA moves towards the 2026 FIFA World cup and 2028 Olympics and Paralympics. The BCG LA team will be growing in the run up to these events, and the successful applicant will provide essential support to all BCG staff through their Corporate Services responsibilities.

In this role you would be working in a diverse international environment to support UK diplomats, and other country-based staff operating in the United States. Roles and responsibilities
Strategic Planning and Leadership 10%- Support of the corporate agenda including the delivery of the Los Angeles business plan and risk management. - Manage the Consulate Office (currently supporting numerous different government partners), promoting inclusiveness at post. - Ensure Consulate policies are reviewed and aligned to central FCDO policy and any local requirements.- Lead and monitor the delivery of services against the local corporate services charter.
Delivery 70%- Manage all corporate delivery across finance, HR, procurement, and protocol, working closely with the regional HR, finance, and procurement hubs and the Global Processing Transaction Centre (GTPC). Ensure full use of self-service access to corporate services and regionalised services.- Management of the estate (office and residential properties), ensuring that UK and local standards are met through planned and reactive maintenance and in compliance with corporate procedures, including local and UK health and safety regulations and policy.- Act as Procurement lead, identifying requirements, appropriate service level agreements and key performance indicators to manage and monitor supplier contracts. Manage contracts effectively and ensure they are re-tendered in good time before expiry, ensuring value for money.- Manage the Los Angeles delegated budget in accordance with corporate policies to ensure on-budget expenditure and value for money. - Instil a continuous improvement mentality within the team, implement corporate projects and the change management required to deliver them. - Maintain relationships with key stakeholders internally, within regional and global hubs (finance, procurement, HR) and with external partners (US State Department, other diplomatic missions, government departments, suppliers, contractors) to maintain informed and current corporate knowledge.
Resilience 10%- Respond to operational crisis when it arises, providing leadership and flexing team prioritisation as required.- Ensure cross training within corporate services roles to provide resilience within the teams and across the region.- Ensure wellbeing and engagement are maintained within the corporate services team, seeking regular feedback and embedding the values of resilience and respect.
Post Security 10%
- Act as Deputy Post Security Officer, working with the Deputy Consul General to ensure compliance to central FCDO policies. Implement remedial action arising from annual security audits
