The Oxfordshire County Council (OCC) Shared Lives Scheme matches individuals needing support with approved carers, enabling them to live as part of the carer’s household or visit for support, fostering a sense of community and belonging.
As manager, you’ll drive the strategic development and growth of the service, ensuring regulatory compliance and working collaboratively across Adult Social Care and partner agencies. As Shared Lives Scheme Manager, you’ll ensure the highest standards of service are planned and delivered inclusively to Oxfordshire residents. Our team is successfully delivering on an exciting Strategic Development Plan, expanding our reach across Adult and Children’s Social Care through innovative marketing, media campaigns and developing new ways of working. Now, we need you to lead the next chapter—identifying and implementing opportunities for further growth, especially supporting young adults leaving care.
You’ll ensure the Shared Lives Scheme meets all requirements of the Health and Social Care Act (2008), and other relevant legislation and guidance. You’ll provide personalised information and advice to individuals, families, and carers, and ensure the team meets all professional standards.

We’re transforming how our frontline social workers support communities to achieve the best outcomes for every person. Through strengthened supervision, ongoing professional training, and manageable caseloads, you can bring your best self to your work. As a financially stable local authority, our investment in Adult Services has created new opportunities. We’re looking for an energetic, passionate Team Manager to help shape and deliver our teams.
You’ll work alongside multi-disciplinary teams and partners to:
- Empower people to identify their strengths and desired outcomes, embracing new ideas to improve and maintain independence.
- Use a strengths-based approach to promote wellbeing and help people achieve their goals.
- Support people and carers to ensure their voices are heard, including through advocacy.
- Manage staff in line with council policies and procedures, handling caseload and staffing issues appropriately, and providing specialist advice in line with evolving best practice.
- Champion evidence-based practice and stay up to date with developments (Care Quality Commission, Shared Lives Plus, RiPFA, SCIE, DoH).
About you
You are a qualified Social Worker with proven management experience, driven to do things differently and find creative solutions with people, not just for them. You’re a leader, passionate about promoting people’s strengths, kind and caring, and an advocate for equality and integrity. You’re committed to ongoing professional development and upholding the highest professional standards.
